Payment for lessons may be monthly, bi-weekly or per week. Checks, cash and and credit cards via Vcita on this site are acceptable means of payment. Checks and cash should be deposited in a gold money box in the foyer. Payment is due either before or at the time of services rendered.
Consistent lessons will maintain your time slot in my schedule. I expect at least 24 hr. notice for cancellations, except in the case of sudden illness or inclement weather. All other absences, by any reason, must be paid for. Re-scheduling is sometimes not an option due to my busy schedule, but I will do my best to accommodate you if I can. If sudden illness or inclement weather do occur and a make-up lesson isn’t possible, a paid lesson fee will roll over into the next month.
As previously mentioned, make-up lessons are not guaranteed, however if possible, each student will be granted a maximum of three make-up classes. Please notify me as far in advance as possible for cancellations – that will ensure your best chance for a make-up.
Please do not bring your child to class if they are sick or showing/having symptoms of becoming sick.
For 30 minute lessons, there is a 15 minute rule: if you are late fifteen minutes or more, your lesson will be forfeited.
There is no contract. If you’re unhappy with anything and it can’t be worked-out, then you can leave and if I’m unhappy with anything and it can’t be worked out, you leave.
Arrival and Parking
Parking space is limited – please park along the curb near the house. Lessons are back to back, so please arrive on time for a smooth transition from one student to the next. If you arrive early, please do not disrupt the current lesson. Find a spot to go ahead and open your case, get your violin out and discreetly find a spot on the sofa or in a chair. Do not stand in front of a lesson. There’s absolutely no running in the house (like to the bathroom) nor jumping on the sofa. Simply put: respect the student in front of you and when your lesson is over, quietly pack up to leave, respecting the student after you. Washing your hands before a lesson is always a good idea.
Lessons that I cancel will either be possibly re-scheduled or payment will carry over into the next month. I will be as flexible with you as I can and ask that you also try and be flexible with me if ever it is necessary.
Snow Days and Holidays
Please check-in with me on snow days. Often times when school is cancelled, road conditions are still good, particularly in the afternoon. But this isn’t always the case. My studio is located on a hill in a subdivision, so it may be tricky. Call or e-mail me to check the status of my neighborhood and let me know if you will come or cancel.
I often teach on holidays except for Thanksgiving and the last of December thru the beginning January. If you intend to have a lesson on a holiday, let me know. Since it is a holiday, we can re-schedule lesson times for anytime during those days. If you say that you will come on a holiday and I wait for you and you do not show-up, then it is considered an unexcused missed lesson and you will have to pay for it.
Summer Term Policies
Between June 1st and September 1st many students travel abroad for extended periods of time or go on lengthy vacations. 5 lessons must be taken and/or paid for over the summer in order to retain a spot in my studio. Payment of these lessons is due the first week in June or earlier, if you will leave earlier The payment will cover 5 lessons taken during the course of the summer. If 5 lessons cannot be taken within this time frame, any remaining monetary amount will be forfeited for summer funds.
I try to maintain the same lesson schedule from year to year, however each year many student activities and schedules change and conflict with normal lesson times. It’s a nightmare trying to re-schedule everyone and sometimes, I won’t be able to accommodate everyone. Please let me know as far in advance as you can of any changes that will conflict with your lesson time and I will do my best to fit you in. I ask for everyone to please be flexible. Students who have studied with me the longest will get top priority.
Consistent lessons are necessary for steady progress. No more than 5 unexcused absences per year will be permitted.
Whenever children are not attending school, lessons can be scheduled for earlier in the day..
